Biography
I received my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Seattle Antioch University in 2009. I was a co-facilitator of a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Group Therapy for Depression at the University of Washington and provided counseling to children, adolescent/teens, and families. Aside from private practice, I have also provided mental health counseling at behavioral health clinics to people in substance abuse recovery programs as well as to couples and families.
I gained my experiences in working with culturally diverse populations at community mental health clinics, private behavioral health clinics, and primary care behavioral health clinics. In addition to English, I am fluent in Cantonese. I have provided counseling in a collaborative way with primary care providers to children, adolescent/teens, adults, couples, pregnant women, elder adults, and people with disabilities.
I received specialize training in working with trauma/PTSD and sex therapy. I have provided services to clients for: prenatal and postpartum depression, mood disorders, trauma treatment, mental health wellness education, relationship and intimacy problems, parenting, academic and work issues, racial cultural identity, medication support, and life transitions.
Prior to entering the counseling field I had 30+ years experience working in both public agencies and private businesses. Assisting and sharing my clients’ process of healing and growth has been the most rewarding work I have ever done.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, photography, reading, being outdoors, cooking, traveling, and painting.
